A little while back, Aida, a lovely visitor, asked me if I had a tutorial to make ort bags. Unfortunately, as I do most of my sewing without patterns or instructions, I didn't have anything useful to offer her, apart from a promise to put a tutorial together as soon as I'd find the time. So here we go: we're one step closer.
I chose an orchid pattern from Monique Bonnin in Flowers Fleurs - DMC Special Edition. This ort bag will be for my Mum who loves orchids, and whose living room is in those gold/beige shades.
Voici un gros plan sur le coeur de la fleur :
Here's a close up of the heart of the orchid:
Et un des boutons :
And one of the flower buds:
Cette broderie servira à faire le sac de la poubelle. Je me mets maintenant au petit coussin.
I'll use this for the bag part of the ort bag. I'm now starting on the little cushion.

The orchid looks just gorgeous! I love it! Very beautiful stitching! But I am wondering what a cotton bin is.

Thank you Olga!
Now, a cotton bin is a little bag attached to a little cushion - it's great to pin your needles and dispose of those annoying little bits and pieces of leftover cotton while you're stitching. You can have a look here (http://www.fabyblog.com/article-15236032.html) at the last one I did. I'm sure you must have seen them before, but you might know them under a different name - I must admit that I've no idea what they're called in English - if there's a proper name for them, I'd love to find out what it is. I'm thinking of a slightly different finish for this one... but I'll have to check if it works before I say any more about it. Watch this space... !
Take care XXX

This is going to be a very pretty piece. And I love your Tatty Teddy version. And do you really have a friend named "Aida", like the cross-stitch fabric?
